ITLS 6205 - How To Make A Cinnamon Quesadilla

How To Make A Cinnamon Quesadilla -A Guide With Pictures

1. Begin by placing a flour tortilla on a paper towel and a plate. The paper towel helps prevent moisture from building up and makes for an easier cleanup.

2. Using a butter knife, spread butter over the entire tortilla. Move any excess butter to the center of the tortilla so it won't spill.

3. Microwave the quesadilla for 15 - 20 seconds depending on the strength of your microwave. Do not microwave longer than 25 seconds as this will cause the quesadilla to harden when it cools.

4. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly across the quesadilla. Spread it around as generously as you would like. If desired, cut the quesadilla into triangles, roll it up, or just eat it as is.

5. Enjoy!

Blogging Best Practices

In searching for "Blogging Best Practices" I came across a variety of different ideas on what makes for good blogging. For this assignment I decided to focus on the ethics of good blogging. Susan Gunelius, an About.com guide, offers three "Top" blogging rules (her article can be found here: http://weblogs.about.com/od/bloggingethics/tp/Top3BloggingRules.htm).

The first one she mentions is to cite your sources. This is obviously an important rule for blogging because neglecting to do so is essentially stealing someones content and using it as your own. It's also common courtesy to give credit to the original author or content creator.

Second, she suggests you ask permission. I think that this is particularly true when using videos or pictures. It would be very upsetting to find out that your personal images are being used on someones blog without permission or some form of notification. Again, common courtesy says you should find out who created the content and ask for permission before using it. The article makes the distinction that if you are using more than just a few short words and citing the original author, it is important to get permission rather than just citing the source.

Third, she recommends "Playing Nice". In other words, don't assume that because you are writing a blog you can simply say whatever you want. If you plan on people reading what you are writing be sure to use caution and judgement in what you say and who you say it about. There are legal repercussions for writing dishonest or slanderous things, even on a blog.

More in depth reading on the subject can be done by reading the article by Susan Gunelius directly at:

Blog Pedagogy - Blogs and Education

The first blog I came across was http://www.freetech4teachers.com/. This blog offers a variety of free resources for teachers to use in their instruction. For example, the most recent post on the blog (at the time of this posting) was a free short video from the BBC which visually explains DNA and the role it plays in the larger world. The blog offers countless other free tools for lessons and engaging instruction. This type of blog provides quick access to very valuable resources for teachers. Below is a screenshot of the blog:

The second blog I discovered was http://nerdybookclub.wordpress.com/. This blog provides suggestions on books to read as well as insight as to how the books can be beneficial to the learner. The first post discusses the resiliency of characters in books and how that can transfer to personal perseverance. This blog gives instructors a great place to find good books as well as insight into the value of the books that might not otherwise be obvious. Below is a screenshot of the blog:

The third blog I explored was http://www.ctrlaltteach.com/. This blog offers insight and advice into adding technology to the classroom. The first post offers ways to use the game "Second Life" in a classroom setting. For teachers who are looking for ways to incorporate technology into their classroom this blog is an excellent resource. Below is a screenshot of the blog:
